The Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue:
The towering steel statue depicts Genghis Khan on horseback and is the largest equestrian statue in the world. Standing at a height of 40 meters, it is located on a hill overlooking the Tuul River in Tsonjin Boldog, which can be reached by a 54 km paved road from the capital city of Ulaanbaatar.
According to Mongolian legend, Tsonjin Boldog was chosen as the site for the statue because it was believed to be the place where Genghis Khan discovered a whip, which was seen as a symbol of good fortune, destiny, and prosperity. The statue faces east, in the direction of Genghis Khan's birthplace and the sunrise, with a small statue of his mother welcoming him in the distance.
