Amarbayasgalant Monastery
Admire the stunning architecture of the Amarbayasgalant Monastery, one of the three main monasteries in Mongolia. Built between 1727 and 1737 by the Manchu emperor Yongzheng, this religious site was created to commemorate Zanabazar, the first Bogd Gegeen and leader of Mongolian Buddhism. Pilgrims from all over the Tibetan-Mongolian Buddhist world still visit the monastery to pay homage to Zanabazar's mummified body.
