Tovkhon Monastery
Visit Tovkhon Monastery, one of Mongolia's oldest Buddhist monasteries and a famous pilgrimage center, perched on the 2312-meter-high rocky peak of Shiveet Ulaan Mountain in the Khangai Mountains. Originally named Dubkhen (“creation temple”), the monastery is accessible by hiking or horseback through scenic conifer-covered mountains, or by a steep road for those with a sturdy 4WD. Hiking is the recommended and safest way to reach the top.
